Don B. - A Delicious SolutionWe love Don's story of his career change, in part because we've enjoyed the fruits of his labor. Don worked in several corporate and smaller company positions throughout his career, and worked in Operations for several years. When his company was forced to make organizational changes, he accepted an alternative position, as an Outside Sales Rep. He tried this but after a time realized that this was not a good fit for who he was.
Don acquired a rolling BBQ pit that looks to us like a small locomotive. He created a web page, got the word out there, and developed a reputation for having some of the best BBQ in the area. How has this worked for Don? He enjoys his work, it appears he has a long list of events and customers lined up, and we can personally atest, after several repeated measures with close scrutiny, to the quality of his work. It gives him flexibility, he can pick and choose the projects, and most of all, he has a lot of fun in the process. |
Don looked for other work but had trouble securing another suitable position. In an attempt to take control back, increase his reliance on his own self, and start enjoying his work, Don took his weekend hobby of barbequing to the marketplace. He had a long list of loyal BBQ eaters who kept telling him how great his food was - especially the ribs, they would say - so he decided to try catering his BBQs.
